Counseling

Counselors provide academic advisement, personal and group counseling to help students gain skills necessary to complete programs, obtain employment and/or college placement. All students are assigned to a counselor at the time of registration. The counselor’s name is printed on the student’s schedule. If a counselor is not assigned, please contact Ms. Darlene Mercado, Supervisor, Counseling and Advisement at 849-6727 ext. 135.

Counselors assist students with the following:

  • Review assessment and interpret test scores in order to advise students in the determination of academic and vocational choices.
  • Assist students in identifying and resolving problems that may hinder their academic progress.
  • Assist students who are applying for the GED Exam and seeking college admission.
  • Refer students to other Educational Opportunity Center and community services as appropriate.
