For more than 35 years, the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) has been a well-respected assessment tool for use in adult education. The Educational Opportunity Center uses the on-line TABE test to help students understand their strengths and weaknesses of skills that are used each day. The test score will also predict how adult students may perform on the official state GED exam. The results of the test will be available to the applicant/student the same day, shortly after the test is ended. Note: The TABE test scores may be transferable to other institutions that use the TABE test as an admissions criteria. Check with an Admission Advisor for more information.
Best Test: For those who mostly speak languages other than English, BEST is a combined test of reading and writing skills using authentic situations as the basis for test questions. The results of the test will be available to the applicant/student the same day, shortly after the test is ended.
GED Assessment (GAP)
The GED Assessment Project (GAP) is a one-day session where students that wish to take the official state GED exam can:
- Get an idea of how ready they are to take and pass the official GED state exam;
- Find out what the exam passing requirements are;
- Identify their academic strengths and weaknesses;
- Better understand that if their practice test scores are low, that enrolling in regular GED classes can increase the likelihood that they can later take/pass the state exam.
